GRTA Negotiations Update

On October 13, 2025, the District and GRTA held their first negotiations bargaining session for 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 contract reopeners.

GRTA presented its initial proposal for Article X (Leaves), Article XII (Class Size), Article XIII (Teacher Safety), Article XXII (Salary), Article XXII (Fringe Benefits), and Article XXIII (Extra Duties).  The District provided a counter proposal which included a stipend for K-5 classes that exceed a class load of 25 students after a 2 week grace period in exchange for the removal of the current language providing 3 hours per week of instructional aide assistance, and an increase in salary and benefits for the 2025-2026, 2026-27, 2026-2027 school years with a one-time lump sum payment if an agreement can be reached on all three years.

The District also presented its initial proposals for (Article IV Association Rights) and (Title VII Teacher Evaluation), Article XIV (Teacher’s Work Year) Article XXIV (Peer Assistance and Peer Review (PAR)). Specifically, under Article IV the District is proposing to clarify the use of Association Time. Under Article XIV the District is proposing to add one Professional Development day and one Buy Back day to the beginning of the 2026-27, 2027-2028, 2028-2029 school years. Under Article XXIV, the District proposed language to ensure that the PAR process is fair, runs smoothly, and provides referred unit members with high-quality assistance in improving performance.

The District and GRTA will continue negotiations on November 3, 2025.
